Announcement Today! High School Hijinx!

A tip of the Downeast hat to those good folks at MDISchools.net, who are tipping us off to a big announcement today by the Governor, the Commissioner, and others.

Here’s part of the media advisory, as reproduced at MDISchools:

WHO

  • Governor John E. Baldacci
  • Education Commissioner Susan A. Gendron
  • Ann Weisleder, Chair of the State Board of Education
  • Mark Kostin, Senior Associate, Great Schools Partnership
  • Key stakeholders

WHEN
Monday, December 15 at 1 p.m.

WHERE
State House, Augusta, Governor’s Cabinet Room

WHAT
Announcement of a major new regional initiative to transform secondary education for the 21st century in the states of Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Maine. The effort aims to become a pioneering multistate partnership that can serve as a model for the nation.

It’s supported by the Gates Foundation and the Nellie Mae Education Foundation.

Developing…

P.S. Aren’t we all getting tired of this “21st century” rhetoric? Could the two sentences following “WHAT” above be any more filled with education reform hack-ese?
