Poll results being reported today (Bangor Daily article here, enlarged graphic here) would appear to show “No” votes growing on on the first four referendum items. We’ll have to see if this poll with any accuracy predicts the actual results of the voting a week from today.
The strong feelings around these questions suggest a volatility in voter behavior that may not be reflected in the polls; translation: There ain’t no telling what people may do!
But here’s a prediction.
The BDN article is titled “Opposition to ballot questions grows”. It might not be a coincidence that the same issue of the paper, in their “Clickback” section, asks “is it too easy to get on the referendum ballot?”
After November 3, you can expect a pushback on the people’s veto and people’s initiative. Those who know better, the BDN included, are getting mighty irritated with the great unwashed (us)!
